Yes, why drill that hole?  And where did you get your pedestal mount?  Looks nice.

In our Pod, I tripped too many times on the base sticking up.  If I had it to do again in that trailer, I'd get the flat one.  Our Sonoma has the raised bases for the table but they're never in an area where one would walk, so tripping isn't an issue.

Yes it is a recessed base, so you have to bore a (nearly) fist-sized hole in the floor. I did plan to add a 'backer board' underneath, but it hasn't been needed. I did seal it against water.

podwerkz, is your table pedestal solid and are you happy with it?

I mounted the post bases on a piece of plywood that became the new floor under the table.  It fits tight between the sidewall of the pod and the 2 ottomans.  It is very sturdy.
