Hi It is time for me to replace the mattress in my 179 pod l did get a free one on warranty last year but it only lasted about as long as thr original factory mattress. So now it is time to get a decent mattress. I think a lot of you are using the zinuis mattress but I was concerned about the bad mold reviews I saw on Amazon. Is there other mattress options I should be looking at? If you have a zinus mattress did you have any problems with it and how do you like it?

We have a mattress factory in town so I went there and bought a RV short queen matress. They had several firmness to choice from. I chose a firm one and I really like it. Cost was about $500.

We have the 10" Zinus short queen memory foam mattress. We have been very happy with it. I find it to be very comfortable. The down side is the weight. It is heavy and hard to move to get to the spaces underneath to winterize or to get to the storage compartments I made. Amazon lists the 10" model at 52.6 lbs. I am about to order the 6" Gel Infused model which is 31.3 lbs.
https://smile.amazon.com/Zinus-Gel-Infused-Green-Memory-Mattress/dp/B072M8JWGR/ I will move the 10" model into our house. I will need to find a way to adapt it to a full-queen size though.

Yeah my mattress is fairly heavy and is almost a squeeze fit but I don't need to get under it very often.

This has been a problem since day one I believe. After only a few nights in our 177 we decided to replace the mattress, and this was in 2011. We purchased a eurotop mattress (AKA mattress in a roll) from Camping World and have been very pleased with its performance. We use it about 30 days/year and feel it is just as luxurious and comfortable as the day we purchased it 7 1/2 years ago.

+1 to SH, we also have the 10" and it just to heavy to manage when changing bedding. Takes the both of us to manage.

The 50 lbs is a turnoff to me too both due to handling and to increased tongue weight. I just have a topper right now, not very comfortable. StephenH, please let us know how the 6 inch one works out for you.

I've said this before, but it's worth repeating. We use a 4" piece of seat cushion foam that's real firm. My wife made a couple of covers for it. It's light, very comfortable [this foam comes in various densities to meet your hard/soft mattress preferences], and easy to move. Being relatively light, it's easy to get at the space below the bed where we have a lot of stuff stored. Cost: just a tad over $100 including the cloth to make the covers.

The six inch mattress arrived today and is expanding now. It will take a while before it is fully expanded and I can give an objective evaluation. I can provide some first impressions though. First off, it is amazing what a difference that 28.1 lbs of weight makes. The 6" mattress is something Ican move easily. I expect it will still be easy once it is fully expanded. Second is the thickness. I will need to wait to after it is fully expanded, but partially expanded, it is easy for me to fold enough to get to access things underneath. As for comfort, I can't report on that until we have a chance to test it. One good thing about geting it now is that the odor of the new foam has time to dissipate before we need to use it. Lying down on it while partially expanded just does not work for providing an evaluation. I think it will be a bit more firm than the 10" model. My wife had mentioned the 10" model which we purchased in 2016 seems to have developed impressions where we lie. While Ido not find this to be a problem (I had not really noticed it), she does not care for that part. Now to figure out what to do with a 10" mattress that is in too good a shape to throw away and for which we have no good storage option.
