While self lubing my 179 wheels in my driveway, I happened to pull my TV lug wrench out just ensure it will fit if I get a blowout. Glad I checked, as it does not fit and there does not seem to be a lug wrench anywhere in the rPod. Wouldn't it be nice if the dealer or FR advised you will need to buy your own lug wrench when you first buy this RV? How irresponsible, and fortunately I have not yet needed one, but now grabbed the 4 sized cross lug wrench collecting dust in my garage. It is stored now in storage bin.
How on earth does FR suggest you fix a flat when you don't provide the tool to do so?

I carry all the tools I need with me. FR doesn't give you a jack either, but you need one. Best to make a tool kit.

#1 to what Mike said.
I would also suggest you invest in a torque wrench. Yes, wheels have been know to fly off without properly torqued lug nuts. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C5ZL0RU/ I would also suggest a low profile jack. Once your tire is flat, there is not much room under to place a jack. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BG6IJA0/ fred

Maybe the lug nut wrench is dealer supplied? Ours came with one, but I added a torque wrench to our toolkit & use a socket now.

I sure didn't get one. Now days with these torque specs you need an extension, sockets and a torque wrench, if I did get a lug wrench I wouldn't use it.

I have a torque wrench and a deep socket that works well for tightening the lugs to spec. Is it OK to use it to remove the lug nuts as well, or am I likely to damage the wrench?
(Answering my own question)- Most articles on the topic indicate that if a nut (bolt) will not loosen with the maximum torque setting another tool should be used to avoid damage to the wrench.

I grabbed a 4 way cross from Harbor Freight before I picked up our 189 R-pod. Just cause. TV will also have a 2.5 ton floor jack and some planks. Just in case. In some situations it may be as easy to jack up the pod to level as it would be to back over blocks to do the same thing. Have one of those nice Anderson Levelers waiting to be used. Good to have options.

coppercdrkey,
I don't use my torque wrench to loosen anything, I have a 24" breaker bar I use to loosen nuts and bolts. It's reversible and after tightening with it, I torque. I also have a DeWalt battery operated impact wrench, that I found tightens to about 90 Flbs. |
