While self lubing my 179 wheels in my driveway, I happened to pull my TV lug wrench out just ensure it will fit if I get a blowout. Glad I checked, as it does not fit and there does not seem to be a lug wrench anywhere in the rPod. Wouldn't it be nice if the dealer or FR advised you will need to buy your own lug wrench when you first buy this RV? How irresponsible, and fortunately I have not yet needed one, but now grabbed the 4 sized cross lug wrench collecting dust in my garage. It is stored now in storage bin.

How on earth does FR suggest you fix a flat when you don't provide the tool to do so?

I carry all the tools I need with me. FR doesn't give you a jack either, but you need one. Best to make a tool kit.

#1 to what Mike said.

I would also suggest you invest in a torque wrench. Yes, wheels have been know to fly off without properly torqued lug nuts.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C5ZL0RU/ - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C5ZL0RU/

I would also suggest a low profile jack. Once your tire is flat, there is not much room under to place a jack.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BG6IJA0/ - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BG6IJA0/

Maybe the lug nut wrench is dealer supplied? Ours came with one, but I added a torque wrench to our toolkit & use a socket now.

I sure didn't get one. Now days with these torque specs you need an extension, sockets and a torque wrench, if I did get a lug wrench I wouldn't use it.

When using the torque wrench, what would be the suggested ft lb to set it at? Thanks

I have a torque wrench and a deep socket that works well for tightening the lugs to spec.  Is it OK to use it to remove the lug nuts as well, or am I likely to damage the wrench?

(Answering my own question)-  Most articles on the topic indicate that if a nut (bolt) will not loosen with the maximum torque setting another tool should be used to avoid damage to the wrench.

I grabbed a 4 way cross from Harbor Freight before I picked up our 189 R-pod. Just cause. TV will also have a 2.5 ton floor jack and some planks. Just in case.

In some situations it may be as easy to jack up the pod to level as it would be to back over blocks to do the same thing.  Have one of those nice Anderson Levelers waiting to be used.

Good to have options.

coppercdrkey,

I don't use my torque wrench to loosen anything, I have a 24" breaker bar I use to loosen nuts and bolts. It's reversible and after tightening with it, I torque. I also have a DeWalt battery operated impact wrench, that I found tightens to about 90 Flbs.

Greetings

The lugs are 3/4 inch.  buy a deep inpact socket and a long 1/2 inch drive handle.  A small floor jack is what I pack along.  A torque wrench is a good idea to have {1/2 inch drive)  90  to 100 pounds of torque.  Check the torque after a couple of 100 miles

I’m not sure if using the torque wrench to remove lugs would damage it but if you use it, set the torque well above the specified torque (100) lbs. I can’t see how it could hurt it if you set it at lets say 150.

My understanding is that if you are using a torque wrench to remove tight lug nuts, you run the risk of damaging the cogs inside and getting it out of calibration. A breaker bar is much better for this purpose since it does not need to be calibrated. Tightening a torque wrench to above the stated torque would not necessarily prevent getting it out of calibration.

You may be correct but they are designed to torque in both directions. So setting it higher shouldn’t hurt it if you don’t reach the set torque.

I stopped at Harbor Freight today and picked up a folding 4 way lug wrench; easy to pack and good to have in case. Not the quality of tool that I'd use all day/every day in a shop but perfectly adequate to live in my Pod toolkit and (hopefully) never get used. $10.99.

Let me know how that works on a 100 lb torque. You must be young:)

Harbor Freight is your friend here. If you ever had to break the torque off a 100 pd lug nut you'll be glad your bought a cheap four way lug wrench from them. Or better go buy a cheap breaker bar and torque wrench from them and while your at it get a cheap 3 ton bottle jack. Then go shop around at your local FLAP (friendly neighborhood auto parts) store for a cheap short extension and appropriate deep well socket, unless you can somehow find these cheaper at HF.  You now have the perfect tire changing kit!
