To Jato, missed your Torch Lake reference, we were up there a couple years ago at Torch Grove campground during the big storm, had part of a tree come down on our Jeep and the wind blew our dome sideways breaking a pole and somewhat trapping us in the pod.  The pod sounded like an echo chamber with the hail hitting it, also put a little over a hundred dents in our Jeep but the pod came out without any.  Besides that it was a great trip, beautiful lake.

Ouch on the hail, bummer.  If you like boondocking check out Fisherman's Island S.P about 2 miles south of Charlevoix on Lake Michigan.  Only a handful of campsites on the big lake the rest are inland.  Probably have to reserve to get the lakeside sites, but it is worth it, tremendous view.

Jato, not sure if you have been there yet but we are going to Manistique Lakeshore Park in August, never been there before but from their site it looks really nice, I believe this is their second year, the wife and I do metal detecting and wanted to try in that area up there.

Interesting you bring this up as we have a piece of property on Lake Michigan that is just east of Manistique.  It is located 2 miles from the Kewadin Casino so it is real close to the campground you mention.  We try to camp there at least once/year.  From our property we can see the lights from Sioux Croix Lighthouse at night.  Pretty neat.  The lighthouse isn't that far away, just south of Gulliver a bit.
