Give some thought to carrying the bikes between the truck and the camper.

Easier on the bikes and the camper and they're already on the truck when you arrive at the CG. For everyday non camping use just leave the draw bar and carrier on the truck. The platform/basket style carrier makes it much easier to load and unload.

I doubt that it voids the bike carrier warranty.  You should research that more.  I don't believe restrictions like that are even legal (kinda like people used to believe if your car dealer didn't change your oil it would void your warranty).  Besides, if you had a problem, how could they tell it had been in an adapter?

Bike Carrier advice needed:

  • R Pod R 179, 1 1/4" receiver hitch, pickup has a 2" receiver.
  • I would like to find a stable (Montana roads) 2-bike carrier that I can use on both the R Pod 1 1/4" receiver when towing and also adaptable to the 2" pickup receiver when the R Pod is not hooked up.
  • I was advised not to buy a hitch adapter because it voids the bike carrier warranty. (not sure if this is true for all bike carriers)
  • Any tips or experience, much appreciated!
Good decisions come from experience. Experience, well.... that comes from bad decisions.
