Yes, you were in my neck of the woods.  I live north of Baltimore about 10 minutes from the PA border (my driveway is always available, with a 30 amp hookup).  I'm 20 miles from Westminster but it is all back roads to get there so it is a 40+ minute drive.

Sorry but I don't know of any campgrounds near Westminster.  A Google search doesn't show any either.  There are some options towards Frederick but that isn't very close.

Frederick is close to my sister...have you seen any campgrounds there or are you just checking online? I've tried to get her to scout some for us but she isn't a camper Ouch

The only one we've used is the Jellystone near Hagerstown.  Over a 30 minute drive from Frederick, and I wouldn't recommend the place.  We stopped going when it became a victim of its own success.  When we were there I felt like I had moved from our quiet country home to a small bustling city.

I would swear we stayed at one south of Frederick, somewhere along route 340.  I can't think of the name though.

Hey Fred,
Thanks for the great pics and info.  You sound like an old hand at this camper stuff.  A 500+ mile maiden voyage is pretty brave. Smile

We will be breaking in the pod locally in CT for a couple of weeks before heading down to Assateague.  Really looking forward to it.

We have a '182' with a 2004 Pathfinder.  The Pathfinder gets 15 mpg without the tow.  I'm afraid of what we will get with the pod.

Anyway, we will be there on the 10/6 and looking forward to meeting you.

Hi Bruce and/or Ana,

No, not old hands at all. We're total rookies. Learned everything we know from the really old hands right here in this house. We've only had our 178 since last September and only have about 10,000 miles on it. Got a long way to go...Smile

Hi Fred,

Hey, ur a pretty handy guy with all the mods.  Great work.  I like the 4 battery hook up.  Must come in pretty handy.  The pictures are great.   BTW, are there toilets and showers at Assateague?

Bruce,

Thanks for the compliments. No, there are no showers at Assateague. Just pit toilets, but when we were there they were very clean. Very few campers were there.

My battery setup is 2x6 volt 230AH Duracell EGC2s => These

Yes, they have proven to perform great for us. Be aware though, they won't fit a regular 12v. battery box.  Too tall. I modified a couple of boxes for them to fit.
