Thanks Ben & Lorrie for the tip. I usually have someone with me to help with the backing up step but think I'll add the stake and tape to my 'travel bag' just in case.

Welcome kayak lady.  An opening rear window would be cool.  If anyone gets that mod I'd love to see it.

I agree, I hadn't thought of looking into replacing that window with one that opens.  Definitely want to see it.

Hi, I'm a new pod owner and new RV owner too. Actually took my 176 home in August but as it happens didn't get out until October.  Like many of you, I am upgrading from the tent and this is my first RV. Am hoping to be able to camp and kayak in more comfort! Even in Florida heat is a wonderful thing in the winter. Have now been camping 3 times and learn a bit more each time. Am getting pretty adept at hitching and unhitching but still am challenged with the backing up step. Haven't done any modifications on it but am reading what others have done with great interest. Appreciate this site and organization and look forward to seeing you on the road!

This has helped my husband back up.  He has put a mark with white out on the tailgate instead of using the second ball on the hitch and matches it up to the ball on the tongue.

We also like to kayak and ended up putting a topper on our F250 and using kayak racks on top.  Since the dog loves kayaking, it keeps everyone happy to be able to go.  Now just trying to figure out how to transport two bikes.  Craig is thinking about putting a bike rack on the front of the truck.   We will be a sight going down the road I am sure.

Happy to see lots of other boaters on this forum!

I carry canoes, kayaks and bikes on a custom made rack.  The boats are above the truck cap.  The bikes sit on rails that are on either side of the truck cap.  I can try to track down pictures if anybody is interested.

I'll start sorting through photos.  If all else fails, I'll go out after the storm passes through and get some pics.
