The perceived need for sway control is very individualistic, some people like belt and suspenders.

At 7650 pounds, do you need sway control?

Sway is caused by the trailer weight distribution, so is really independent of the tow vehicle. A  heavier tow vehicle will control sway better, but its always best to eliminate the problem at its source.  If you keep your tongue weight over about 11% of your total trailer weight under all loading conditions then you've probably accomplished that and then sway control becomes a personal "belt and suspenders" decision.

I run a relatively light tow vehicle so I subscribe to the belt and suspenders approach, others might choose differently. Some here even choose to wear a belt and 2 sets of suspenders (mechanical sway control plus active sway control).
