I noticed this was being discussed on the other site - someone posted pictures and it looked to me like damage due to powerwashing although the person claimed they didn't do that. Today I took a look at my 'pod as I was stocking up on wood before our big snowstorm. Almost all of the decals - ovals and letters - on the curved part of my 'pod are peeling!!! It looks horrible. And it didn't look like this just a few weeks ago, so I'm thinking that the recent cold is the culprit. I've never powerwashed it or rubbed it, just sprayed it with a hose. None of the decals on the straight sides are peeling. Time to make an appointment with my dealer... once we get the 'pod dug out in a few weeks. |

Add my 2009 R-pod 171 to the list of peeling. It was fine last weekend as I was winter camping in it.

I just found your post about peeling decals. After our very long, intense, winter here in NW Indiana (2013/14) I found that the decals on the front and driver's side of the trailer were peeling. (Where I store the trailer the front faces north without protection from another trailer, and the driver's side west however it was protected by another trailer.) I have always relied on the dealer to wash my trailer in the spring, and they have never used a power washer on it. I called Forest River, and because the trailer was well out of warranty, they couldn't do anything about it. Did you ever find out what was causing the peeling?

Hahaha! In five years of ownership, I've gone through three sets of decals. Only the ones of the curved front (and to a lesser extend the "r-pod" decal on the back) have ever cracked/peeled. Decals on the sides are as good as new.
Honestly, I think the curve is the problem. As outside temperatures fall, the glue holds quite well. But the vinyl decals are stretched past the breaking point and begin to crack. Cracking leads to moisture getting under the decals and then they peel. At this point, I've removed all the long, curved decals and only have the "r-pod by Forest River" decals on the front and the back.

Did you get the new decals from Forest River? Did they install them for you or did you install them yourself?

We had our peeling decals on our 171 replaced under warranty, but it happened towards the end of the first year we bought it. They lasted about another year and we finally said the heck with it and took the decals off of the front. The rest seemed fine.

After our 2nd set failed (front and back, sides are still fine) I had our dealer remove ours. Pics here: http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=2007

Yes, all my replacement decals were from Forest River.
The first two sets were replaced under warranty and installed by my dealer. The third set, I did myself.
With a heat gun and a plastic scraper. And patience. It wasn't too difficult. To clean up the glue residue, I used a lot of Goo Gone and paper towels. It took about 4 hours to remove the decals and clean up the surface.
