Topic: Slide Out Function Posted: 09 Feb 2015 at 10:47am |
During my walk through at the Dealership the tech explained how to operate the slide. He said hold the button for a couple of seconds after the slide if fully extended and do the same when retracting. OK, no problem. But the one thing that still bugs me today is hearing the ratcheting (pop, pop, pop) when the slide reaches its fully closed or the fully open position. He said this is normal. The reason it bothers me is because some of the information I have read for my slide suggests to hold the button until the motors shut off. Mine don't shut off. I just get the ratcheting...pop, pop, pop, then I let off. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong manual. I'm using the Lippert Components In-Wall Slide Out Owners Manual. Is that the right one for a 178 kitchen slide?Question, those with slides, especially 178 kitchen slides, does your slide do the pop, pop, pop when it reaches fully open and full closed, or do the motors just shut off? Thanks, I really appreciate you'all taking time to respond.

As a new owner of a 178 (Jan 15) I was told the same thing. Yes my slide makes the same sound. I'm getting better at judging the distance to keep the popping to a minimum.

When I did the walkthrough on my 2015 179, I asked the dealer about when to let go of the slide button. He said "that's they way it used to work, but now it turns off automatically." I hold the button until the motor stops, and then let go of the button.

Hogone, it is normal. The lippert slide manual That I have suggests that the motors should shut off, automatically. Apparently, I don't have the correct manual for my slide.

Does anybody know what slide we have on the 177 and 178? Is it the Schwintek "in-wall" slideout system by Lippert?

No schwintek is the bigger slides in the 179. Other Pods have another Lippert Slide system in them. I don't have the model numbers or name of the regular one.

I have a question concerning the operation of the slide. Is it possible to extend/retract using the wrench for the corner stabilizers? were is the location on the slide to move with wrench?

Our 2015 R178 does the clicking thing. The motor does not shut off. The clicking is not an issue as it is a slip clutch making the sound and not the gears.
