We are getting ready to take our rpod out for the first timenext week. We just got it and are looking over the checklist now. After looking through 29 pages of threads in the Maintenance tips topic, I have three pages of things not in the checklist!!!

Please let me know anything you found missing or just important enough to add. I do mean anything even down to unplug the electric cord .

Everything is appreciated! Thanks!!

Not sure what you pod you have but...  We have the 177 so... Make sure you unplug anything you might have plugged into the outlet by the bed before you bring in the slide.

Thanks!! Very helpfull to us. Any suggestions on sanitizing the water? I've read 1/4 cup bleach to a gallon of water for every 15 gallons of storage. Is this correct or did you do something different?

That ratio sounds about right.  You only need to do it once in the spring.  Put that in the fresh water tank then open each faucet - hot and cold - until you smell bleach coming out.  Then top off the fresh water tank and let it sit overnight.  Drain it and then refill, using that water to flush out the system.  You may have to do this several times to get rid of the smell completely.
 
We've gotten to the point where we take separate drinking water and I don't bother with sanitizing the water system since we only use it for bathing and toilet flushing.  The RV antifreeze that sits in the whole system (except the fresh water tank) all winter uses a type of alcohol, so in my opinion almost everything is already sanitized in the spring.

Ok, one more...when I flush out the system, would it be a bad i dea to hook up the hose and just let it run for a while allowing the hose presaure to push water through the faucets? I would have the emptying valves open. I am looking for a way to avoid filling and emptying a bunch of times.
My concern is the pressure from the hose being stronger than the ability of the valve to drain.

Also, and please don't laugh, once the fresh water tank is filled the pump has to be on in order to use the faucets, right? I am a complete newb and my pod is only a couple weeks old!! Lol.

Using the city water connection to flush out the water lines and faucets will work, but it won't flush out the residual bleach in the fresh water tank or the water pump.  If you can live with a little bleach smell you could just let that work its way out over the summer when you do use your fresh water tank.

No worries, we were all newbies at one time.  Yes, you need to turn the water pump on if you are drawing water from the fresh water tank.  If you have a hose hooked up to the city water connection you leave the pump off - and know that it won't fill up your fresh water tank.  You must use the large fill port to do that.
