Check hitch pins!

The video guy is a little talky but it got me to thinking that I need to check my pin condition.

I don't use those type of pins to tow Pod, I do use them on utility trailers around county. I use a hardened pin with a master lock on Pod hitch.

I made the stupid mistake of pulling my RPOD 180 without any pin in the hitch. I was only going a short distance and didn't give it much thought. WRONG! As I crossed the railroad tracks, the trailer jumped off the ball on I was dragging my trailer for about 20 feet. I ruined the fold away stand. Luckily a guy stopped to help me lift the tongue up and we put the hitch back on the ball. I ended up replacing the fold away stand ($48) and I figured I got off easy that day. It could have been ugly out on an interstate in heavy traffic. Now I never drive off  without my hitch pin heavy steel lock inserted.

Always raise your tongue after hitching to ensure the ball is seated and locked in place.

+1 techntrek absolutely correct. Lifting the trailer tongue-tow vehicle combo using the tongue jack is an extra step for most Podders who don't use a weight distributing hitch. For those using weight distributing, it is usually a step needed to install the WD bars. Once the coupler is on the ball and closed TEST IT by raising the tongue jack again to make sure it lifts the rear of the tow vehicle.
