I'm slightly taller, and we do pretty much the same. Even though we are both comfortable on a queen size, we've discovered over the years that a single bed is more than enough room, and a double is "luxurious". A queen size is one step above luxurious. LOL

We have the 2017.5 179 and the mattress that came with it was not bad. about 6" in thickness. We added 3" dense foam top for more comfort. Works great.

Hadn't noticed that. I have no clue how the forum decides such things.

We were surprised at how comfortable our stock mattress has been. We'd read many places that the stock mattress would be "not good", but we haven't found that to be true.

Both my wife and I have bad backs and problems with mattresses.  We have been using foam (temperpedic clones) at home and thought we would have to immediately replace the RPOD mattress since so many people complain.  Well to our surprise while the mattress was as firm as any we have slept on, we slept like babies through the night and no back pains.  Unbelievable.  Who would have thought.  I am glad we tried it first before assuming it would be be bad and replace it

I am 6'0". I like to sleep on my stomach with my toes pointed out. The bed is a hair too short for that but every other position is fine :)

After sleeping on our mattress 3x I was thinking how much more comfortable it would be to sleep on the ground in my old pup tent, it was that bad.  So . . . . we purchased a Eurotop mattress in May of 2011.  Still just as comfy as the day we bought it.  We use our 177 about 30 days/year.  Have over 25,000 miles on it and are beginning year #7.  It is a great travel trailer.

We replaced our stock mattress with an 8 inch memory foam short queen from Amazon.  It is awesome.  Spent 10 days over spring break on it.  I'd highly recommend.

We replaced our mattress with a 10", if I had it to do over I would have gone with an 8", in a 178 it's a pain accessing water heater and valves. Queen dimensions are standard in Pods.
