Topic: Fridge on propane question Posted: 03 Sep 2016 at 6:04pm |
So.. I'm at a campsite and I have the fridge on propane. The question is should the fridge be cycling (re-igniting the burner - it is doing this) or should burner stay on constantly? This is only the second time to dry camp and I didn't notice this happening the last time (not that it didn't - just didn't notice)

The burner will ignite whenever the thermostat requires cooling. In cool weather it will cycle on and off. In hot weather it may run continuously.

Good to know... I thought that might be the case, but needed confirmation from someone in the know.
Thanks... I can relax now.
Have a good weekend.

Also important to pull exterior fridge access panels off and blow the dust out of everywhere a few times a year. On a separate note, our pod had some major air passage ways into trailer that were not properly sealed off above and below the fridge.

I did blow the dust out a few months ago - I will do it again before I use the fridge again... I did discover that the power going to the fans (mounted in the back) was disconnected - don't know why. Maybe the thermostat that controls them is not working and the previous owner just disconnected them. The fans work and I have power, so just don't know if the there is a problem with the thermostat - I'm thinking that if I take a hair dryer to the thermostat it should tell me if it is working... cd

If the burner is on, you will be able to feel some warm exhaust coming from the vent behind your refrigerator outside.

Good Afternoon All, We're new owners and I have a simple, related question. To run the fridge on propane I just need to have the propane tank open and select the gas button on the front of the fridge, correct? Thanks, Marty

The brain of the fridge needs 12v also, but yes.

Also be sure to purge the gas lines by lighting a burner on the stove. If there is too much air the fridge will "time out" after several cycles. Purging also helps the WH and furnace to light.

My ref. won't light up too. So I'll have to clean it. Witch panel do take off and with what?
I have never ran my R-Pod 179 on propane. I've had it for 1 1/2 years.
Thanks for the help.
