We have our Rpod Model 179 parked in a spot that is visible from the road and is somewhat public since it's next to a city utility easement.
My neighbor recommended "Wheel Locks" and when I looked them up on Amazon I saw different types and realized for cars or trucks the model is important. What about for our rpod. Have any of you purchased these and if so, I'd appreciate an Amazon or other link. Thanks! John

# 1 I would buy a hitch lock.
#2 I would go to a farm supply store and buy replacement chain for winter chains for a farm tractor and a good lock. wrap chain around axle and then through wheel rim and lock

Are you talking about something like this? 
Personally, I have not experienced anyone having their entire camper being stolen.....though I'm sure it probably has happened. Batteries, propane, tires, etc. - yes. I, too, use a hitch lock and that is all. If someone wants it bad enough, they will get it. Then, I'll get a brand new camper for the price of my insurance deductible. |

Thanks for your replies everyone.
Perhaps my question wasn't complete enough. I'm concerned about someone steeling the wheels and battery. I have the normal hitch lock and everything else is always locked. But in our area we've had a lot of batteries and some wheels being stolen. Wheel locks are a type of lug nut that replaces the originals and has a special key mechanism that prevents others from taking the lug nuts off. Any experience anyone? I did find a bracket that locks the battery holder(s) onto the frame of the rpod to prevent easy access to the battery. Wheel locks are probably not going to stop someone from stealing the wheels: they'll just take the lock with them when they remove the wheels. I'd recommend a thick steel cable over a chain. A chain can be cut with bolt cutters; a steel cable would require a hacksaw or circular cutting saw, which would increase the risk of the thief being caught in the act.
As for hitch locks, I'd recommend one with the steel rod that goes over the top of the coupler and then make sure you hook the rod through the chains. Thieves have been known to tow a trailer by just the chains. |

You have 1/2 threads. Pull one lug and look at the interface of the lug to wheel, it's either coned/beveled, or flat. Buy the ones that match that design.

Metal strap over the battery box, or better yet take the battery elsewhere. Wheel lock and chain through the wheel wrapped around the axle, as mentioned. Won't stop them, though, I read a sad story of a camper left on the side of the road on another forum. Didn't take long to remove batteries, LP tanks, and most of the equipment and appliances inside even though everything was secured well.
Hitch pin lock and hitch socket lock, plus the lock through the wheel is about the best you can do. But, as mentioned, the locks on the hitch won't do any good since they will just wrap chains around the tongue and move it somewhere more private. There the locks can be easily removed. In the end, insure it and point a camera at it.
