Nice to see some pics of you camping in the snow.  We did that last year when the temps dipped down to 15 degrees.  A bit cool around the edges and the furnace ran a good portion of the night.  Only problem when it gets that cold is the condensation on the walls/windows.  Even with a couple window cracked ever so slightly we still had a fair amount of condensation on the walls.

Hi, I'm Julie!
I live in Alaska and bought my 179 in August. I used it every weekend until two days before the snow flyed. Here, we have to thoroughly winterize our RVs and make sure that they are covered to prevent snow load damage and absolutely no water in the system. I found this was pretty easy do do with the low point drain lines with the exception of the water heater! Geez! Try having the weight of the bed on top of you as you are trying to find the shut offs. Only my legs sticking out, wagging around. Probably looked pretty comical! I'll learn a better way of doing this, I'm just a novice.

My J Pod, that's what we call it, is all tucked in and it's little cozy, ordered that from the dealer, fits perfectly. I miss it and will pull it out as soon as I can in spring. So meanwhile, I am ordering a vintage awning, deluxe mattress, and vintage folding aluminum chairs for it. Good thing our winters aren't any longer cuz on line shopping can get to be a bad thing!

I wanted to attach pictures but they are too large and couldn't figure out how to resize them on my phone. Maybe when I get to my laptop I can figure it out, or any advice from you guys would be appreciated.

So jealous that many of you are still camping!!

I enjoyed looking at the pictures of the r-pod in the snow and Julie's humor this morning before going to work, a joyful way to start the day. Julie welcome to the forum!

Bravo Julie,  I think all of us have had the 'honor' of swimming, wagging around under the mattress on our maiden voyage of turning those 3 valves :):):) ! As you will see on other posts an opening cut-out above the valves will make this chore much easier and using a short 3' piece of 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 propped up under outside edge of the mattress works wonders.  We are fortunate that we can park our pod in our old horse barn during the winter months.  We have to be careful backing in and pulling out however in that we only have about 10" on either side to get it in.

Spend some time on this site and navigate around on the various posts.  Much expert advise will direct you on your dilemma on resizing your photos so you can post.

Have you had the joy of giving tours with your 179?  We have had our 177 since March of 2011 and rarely do we go anywhere where we don't give at least one tour.

Julie the way I downsize photos is to open them in MS Paint and then resize them to 50% and resave them. This seems to work well.

Here in Northern CA we don't have to winterize our Pods just use them all year long.

Welcome.  Be sure to actually drain the water heater using the low point drains before turning those 3 valves (or you can drain it using the anode rod plug).  See the link in my signature for winterizing instructions.

Jato,
Yes! Everyone wants to see the J Pod. My first trip out, in the middle of nowhere, I was at a gas station and a couple pulls up with their Pod from Indiana. I was excited, asking all sorts of questions and they were too being their first time in Alaska. I think it's really neat how Podders kind of stick together
Always giving tours in the campgrounds. Have to make sure you're all spiffed up on the inside for these impromptu visits!
It's just the beginning for many fun times and great memories!!
