Today our r-Pod may have saved 2 lives.
As I have mentioned before our 179 is being stored at the garage of a friend who restores World War 2 military vehicles. This morning we were working in the garage as usual and around noon time I was very tired and had tightness and sharp pains across my chest as well. Since I walk 3 miles before breakfast everyday as well as hike and bike regularly this was very unusual. I mentioned this to my friend and he was feeling much the same way. We decided to shutdown all the equipment and take a break. As we walked past the r-Pod it was beeping, strange because the pod was locked up tight to keep dust and dirt out. Upon opening up the pod I saw that the red light on the CO detector was on and the unit was beeping.
We immediately opened all three 10' by 14' garage doors and shutdown the furnace the LP powered fork lift was already off and we went outside. It took a couple of hours before we started to feel better and we went immediately to the hardware store to get a CO detector. This is a new to us garage and the first time we had worked in it with the doors closed and the heat on. Needless to say the furnace and forklift will be inspected tomorrow (it's in the 40's tonight so the heat is off). I always thought I would know CO poisoning by getting a headache first but now I know better.
r-pod 179 to the rescue.
PS: Our wives have told us we are not going to be allowed to play together anymore.
