New to the forum. Planning to go full-time Aug. 2017. Like the looks of R-171. Who has experience to share? What do I need to consider to make the right decision? I like light-weight and layout. All comments will be appreciated. Many thanks.

If and when you need warranty work be careful when admitting you are a full timer.  The warranty excludes the use of the trailer as a permanent residence.  I'm not sure about Forest River, but other manufactures use this to void the warranty.  These trailers are not really built for day-in and day-out use over long periods of time.  Below is the language from the Forest River Warranty.

"The Warrantor further makes no warranty with regard to any product used for commercial purposes, as a permanent residence or as a rental unit, or any product not registered and normally used in the United States or Canada."

As much as I love pods.. I would not full time in one. Just not built for that. And, Dennis Tx is correct, never mention to a dealer, the manufacturer, etc, that you are living in it full time. "On an extended trip.." etc.. is they way you want to put it.. "couple months this trip"..

Welcome.  I agree you'll want a slide-out model for full-timing, but I also agree I wouldn't want to do it in a pod.  We loved our pod and it was great for camping, when we weren't inside except for the bathroom or a drink or we were going to bed.  We even stayed outside under awnings if it rained.  Starting a few years ago we started doing month-long trips every summer and during overnights at truck stops, rainy nights, etc, it was cramped inside.  Granted that was w/o a slide-out and with 4 people.  We moved up to a 26 foot camper with a slide last year.  A little more room than we wanted actually.

Thanks to all for your input. I will take my research in another direction. Molded fiberglass looks like a promising, though expensive, possibility. Happy trails.

If going fiberglass for extended periods of time, may I suggest considering one of these:

If not were for the price, it is what I wanted :)
