Has anyone put an awning on their pod? That screen room thing looks too cumbersome, hard to store, and slow to set up. Just want to be able to whip up a little shade...
Also wondering if all pods ( ours is 2013) have a strong chemical smell? Smells like the materials used in its construction are gassing off.

Some have built awnings, some have purchased custom awnings. Multiple examples around here including one very recently.

Haven't heard of any complaints of off-gassing with the pods, they are built to "green" standards which limits off-gassing. I never smelled it in mine and I'm sensitive to it - I've had issues in the past. Certainly there shouldn't be any from a 2013. Something else is going on.

Thank you Doug! I did not think it should be the camper itself gassing off but I just can't seem to find any source. I'll keep looking(smelling). Thanks again

We've had that wonderful "new car smell" going into our third season. I think it's the synthetic bedspread.

We have the PaHaQue visor for ours, which takes about five minutes to set up.  It provides adequate shade so you can set up a couple of chairs under it, as well as a bit of rain protection when you enter/exit.  Most of the campsites we use have too many trees, rocks, etc., to be able to set up an R-dome.

Regarding the dome: We put ours up absent the front and the part under the pod. Takes under 10 minutes for one person to set up. Makes good shade and we can keep the door and windows open in the rain.
