Topic: Beeping Fridge Fix - By Jim Fielder Posted: 25 Jul 2015 at 7:36pm |
I'm having the same beeping problem, and the same low glow of LEDs when the switch is manually opened. Thanks for this analysis, which will help me fix the problem permanently. in the meantime, I've simply unplugged the switch.

I too have a 2015 178 RPOD and are experiencing the same problem. Noticed condensation under the blue tinted light cover. Took it off and dried it out and it seemed to help. At one point just left the cover off. Dometic is recommending me to take it to a service center. I think will try the dielectric grease first.
Thanks for the information.

First time we used our 179 had the same problem and would give the top left corner a little push and it would latch and stop. Next 3 trips would occasionally beep and same thing, push and stop. Last trip constant beep, no amount of trying to latch it would solve the beep. took it in to our local Camping World and they just got back with me saying the slide out was pinching the propane line on closing and Dometic is having them run diagnostics but it looks like they may replace the frig under warranty. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for this info. Just got back from a trip in our new 179. The beeping started so I relyed on your advise using a blow dryer to dry the switch and connection out but I didn't have the grease. It worked until the next day and started beeping again. No doubt that the moisture started to accumulate again. So to temporarily rectify the situation unil I get grease was to simply unplug the light. Fixed the problem.

last night, I performed the air-dry and dielectric grease fix. Voila! no more beeping when the switch was returned to service.
I am very grateful for this fix, Jim Fielder!

We are up in the mountains in western NC and thankfully we have cell service. The fridge started beeping when we first got here and I didn't have a glue. I searched "beeping" and voila. I just ended up pulling the plug on the backside of the light/latch and that solved the issue for the weekend. No light, but no beep, no problem.

Just experienced this problem after only 3 months and 2 trips. I tried the dielectic grease solution and I'm happy to report the beeping did not return on our latest 4-day trip. Great diagnosis, thank you.

Also had the mysterious fridge beeping every 2 minutes. Thanks to the posts here I was able to eliminate the alarm (unplug) and will seal it up once it drys out (very moist inside fridge. This occurred when we got into humid weather so there is a correlation to the moisture in the fridge. Poor environmental sealing by Forest River.

Remove the metal fins in the back and look for air leaks.
