Will an r-dome from a 2014 178 fit my 2010 171?  I know they changed the width of the keder clip that holds the dome to the camper sometime, but I don't know when.

You can buy the larger C channel and replace the one on your 171.  Not that expensive or hard to do.  OR, you can just take a screwdriver to the one you have and make it wider.

What year did they change the keder c-channel from 9 to 14mm?

Someone else will have to chime in I can never remember the exact year.  It was mid-year fairly recently, like 2012.

How would I widen it with a screwdriver?  Just pry the keder open?

Yes, or maybe pry it open a bit with a wrench.  I'd wrap it with some duct tape to prevent marks.
