Just looked up the part number and found that the batteries are a type of deep cycle but not a stand alone deep cycle which TTs should be using bc they have no realy means of fully recharging the batteries at a fast speed like cars, boats, or anything else with an engine.
This is on the acdelco webiste yours is the ACDM24DC

Dead in 2 weeks from the LPG detector and fridge electronics, is about right. Unfortunately even if you can get a charge on your batteries they will be damaged and won't hold as much charge as before. You must disconnect between trips, and recharge overnight every 30 days. With a storage facility the best way to do that is to take the battery home.

Assuming the draw is .5amps, thats 12 AH a day (24hrs) x 14 days = 168AH = Dead Battery.

Since most batteries are around 100-110 AH, and in the worst case you should never draw them below 30% state-of-charge (SOC), ~70 AH = dead battery. You can count on 0.4 to 0.5 amp draw even with nothing "on". So even being conservative you'll hit the 70 AH mark in 7-8 days. After that point you damage the battery. Most of the time you shouldn't go below 50% SOC.
Another option at a storage facility is to install a small solar system, one that provides just enough charge to keep a charged battery full. Or you can go all the way and install a large solar system which will give you energy to burn on trips w/o any hookups. Downsides are expense, they are useless if a panel is even partially shaded, and they are targets for theft. So the easiest method is to take the battery home - which I would do anyway with my propane tank and battery at a storage facility since they tend to walk.

+1, and all a Podder needs is a 15 watt mono or poly panel and small charge controller to maintain the batteries while in storage.

I am surprised at 0.4-0.5 amp parasitic drain. I was thinking 0.2-0.3 amp at most. Time to take some measurements - and get a disconnect switch.
Thanks! fred

In the case of your 178, it has a 12v radio also.. never completely "off", unless you do as many have, and add an inline switch to it.

I don't think I know of single RV dealer that gives true Deap Cycle batteries with the RV. They are really expensive. Most give Marine RV Batteries or dual purpose as you call it.

The cutoff switch goes in one of the lines from the battery bank to the trailer. Doing so will disconnect both batteries, whether they are two sixes or two twelves. Either lead is OK though convention is to put it in the positive lead.
