Topic: Water Heater Stopped Working Posted: 18 May 2015 at 4:56pm |
On my 3 month old RP179 the water heater stopped working. I used it twice, worked great, then last weekend we went dry camping. It worked fine for half a day, fired right up. Then 6 hours later no hot water. The fridge and heater worked fine on propane and the water pump worked too. We were at 4800 feet. I tried it again went we got home but no luck. Any suggestions. I have an appointment with the dealer in 3 weeks!

Did you remove the heater element to see if it was damaged?

Did you get a DSI fault light? Did you check the DSI fuse?

Were you trying electric, gas, or both?

I understand, my (former) dealer was a 3-hour round-trip from our house. But at least the repair was free.

Had the same problem. Camping World fixed it under warranty. Can you join us in August at the Cannon Beach Roundup? Check Events and Campouts for Pacific NW Roundup. Safe Travels.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I have a question concerning the thermostat. Does anyone know if the thermostat on the left is for gas or for the electric when you are outside looking into the access panel? the thermostat on the left has 2 black wires connected to it where as the one on the right has two red wires. The electric part of my hot water heater is working but the gas is not and I believe it's a power issue. I have seen conflicting things on the internet. Something I looked at said the one on the left was for gas but then another site I looked at said it was for electric. I was under the impression the one with the red wires, which is on the right on my RPod, was for gas. I am kind of confused now. Any info from anyone more knowledgeable than me would be very appreciated!
