I'd like to send in the warranty registration for the AC unit that came with my 179, but can't find the model and serial numbers anywhere in the literature. Just places for it to be written down. It seems the only place these are located are, conveniently, inside the cover accessible only from the roof: https://www.edometic.com/h.nsf/model_serial_tag_location.pdf. Does anyone know if FR would have this on record as part of their build sheet? What do others do, get on the roof and pop it open to see?

I think there are actually 2 different numbers.  One for the roof unit, one for the interior unit.  There are about 9 screws to get the interior cover off, but only 4 for the roof unit.

Sorry, is the suggestion I need both, or that there are two places I can look to get it?

I'd say you need both of them.  For instance, the same roof unit could be matched up to an interior unit with a built-in thermostat, or an exterior thermostat.
