Topic: 2015 r-pod 179 Posted: 18 Feb 2015 at 12:27pm |
Mapquest puts it at 3 1/2 hours but that is optimistic. I would add an hour just to allow for travelling at the speed limit with the R-Pod. Plus you need to allow a minimum 1/2 hour at the border crossing.
I would also watch out for rush hour traffic and travel on the 407 toll-road through Toronto.
We currently have 12 R-Pods coming and a total of 41 campsites including other FR RVs. There is ONE electrical sites left which will only take an "under 25 ft" trailer! Perfect for you.
Your RV dealer, like ours, would probably be most interested in helping out at a camp-out near where they are. I know that there was a camp-out last year at Watkins Glen and I could see that one at Golden Hill State Park, or a private RV park would be very attractive.
Getting across the border is easy. Just make sure that you have your passports, trailer registration certificate, pet vaccination and rabies certificate with you. Leave any meat products, fruits or vegetables at home (buy them here) and don't bring a firearm.
Hope you can make it!

We are excited about all of this. It would be a new adventure in another country . I haven't looked at the rally info yet. Would you be so kind to give me a idea of cost? We are both working and would have to take time off. Thinking we would come in on a Friday and stay through the 9th.

Hi DK,
Welcome to Podland. Don't tow your pod unless the roads are bare of snow and ice (speaking from experience). It's about 3.5 hours from Buffalo to Brighton. If they filled in Lake Ontario it would be about 45 minutes. Don't know what hassles you might experience crossing into Canada. I'm sure no guns allowed. We travel into the States all the time so we know what it feels like to cross a border. Our experience has been good.

I wouldn't worry about snow, just use common sense and if you have a sway bar disengage it. Ice I agree, it never makes sense.

D.K. Campers - I wouldn't worry about snow for the Rendez-vous. Unlikely to have any at the beginning of June!
Johnandwendee - Have you thought about joining us at the Rendez-vous from June 4-7th? Currently standing at 12 R-Pods plus 29 other FR Rvs.
Cheers,
David

Hi David,
We have thought about the rendez-vous. It probably won't happen for us. We will probably leave our r.pod in Alabama this summer. Things could change. Thanks for the invitation. Really liked the photos of the provincial park.
