Hello everyone,

I'm really more of a lurker at this point.  Currently I own a Forest River Solera motorhome, a 2010 model.  My plan is to downsize back to a small trailer next fall.  The R-pod 171 is currently my first choice.  So, we'll see how this all shakes out!  Anyway, glad to be here and thankful for all the good information.

Once nice thing about a TT over a MH is that you can drop, set up camp and then use your TV to hit the road site seeing or visiting friends, etc...Thumbs Up

Have you been inside of a 171 yet?  The reason I ask is that we thought that was the model we wanted, too, until we set foot in a 177 and than a 178.  The slide-out, while it adds a bit of weight, really makes a difference in making the camper feel much more spacious.  If you're downsizing from a MH, you might feel a bit claustrophobic in a 171. 

We ended up buying a 177, by the way.

Welcome.  I'm with Podster, I've considered both sides of the equation and I'd rather have one drivetrain to maintain instead of 2.  That may change if we do some full-timing in the future like we currently plan.  Seems to be more MH than 5ers for full-timers.

No, and I will be checking out these small trailers at the next RV show.  My plan is to make a 2 person small trailer work for me, one way or the other, since it will be just me using it for the most part.  Also, it will only get used maybe 3 or 4 weekends a year (I take it to certain race tracks).
