I live in Tucson, AZ and have never fully winterized my trailers as we just do not get cold (sub freezing) spells that last more than a night or 2 very often...I do drain all water from tanks and lines, but that is pretty much it.

Anyway, I am heading out in mid January on a 4 day trip in the pod to a site where night temps will be in the teens, and daytime highs in the 50's (boondocks)...so I am wondering how/if I can put water in the tank to be able to use the toilet and kitchen...I can certainly only fill the fresh tank part way to leave room for expansion, but am worried about the water lines...

If I am using the heater to keep the interior above freezing, do you think this will be enough to keep,things from freezing?

What model POD do you have?

As water freezes, it expands very slightly.  You might be lucky, or not.  I carry one gallon plastic bottles with water.  Much easier than redoing cracked lines , tanks, etc.  4 or 5 gallons will last a couple of days.

So in a freeze situation you don't use the POD bathroom? Seems to me that one could use a manual flush technique with the RV antifreeze, it's cheap enough.

I keep it winterized and use antifreeze to flush the toilet, if I must use it in the middle of the night.

Good advice...bottled h20 for drinking and cooking, and antifreeze into the toilet for flushing!  4 days in the middle of nowhere and I will need the toilet...

Welcome alan7170, being just up the road from you in AZ City I took some time and blew out the water lines and used a little RV antifreeze in the drains just before X-mass. Glad that I did as we had some temps at night were in the high 20's for a few days. I thought that we would be able to get out every couple of weeks to camp across the state but that will not happen this year as we have been working on the house most of the time. A couple of 5 gallon bottles of water is the way to go in the winter for these trailers that do not have heated tanks.
