Topic: Exterior door lock failure Posted: 12 Dec 2014 at 6:10pm |
Last October, the TriMark lock on the exterior door of my 177 failed. The deadbolt lock still works, but the other "valet" lock on the top of the mechanism no longer works. The local dealers doesn't know if there is a recall on these. Anyone one in Pod-dom know if this has been a problem and if there is a reecall?

There was a Fastec recall, haven't heard of one for TriMark.

I would seriously encourage you to phone them. Owners who have sent emails have waited months on end with no reply, but then a simple phone call to them and a replacement was in the mail that very same day.

Thanks for the advice. I was planning to do that because the upper "valet" lock also failed on me. Whether Fastec will replace the core of the upper lock without a fee also remains to be seen; but, I want to make sure that I have to lock and unlock the pod with only one key.

My local pod dealer thought my lock was TriMark - what do they know? - they lost their only RPod technician recently. Looking at the code on the key, I was able to ascertain that the lock was made by Fastec.

Makes much more sense, I thought it was odd you were asking about TriMark but figured FR just switched suppliers.

I just got off the phone with Brandon at Fastec. Two replacement cores, an extractor key, and duplicate keys are on the way. He estimates that it should take about two weeks for shipment. To this point, it seems like pretty decent service. This vid illustrates the replacement process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM26DIjIP_g&feature=youtu.be
