Calendar Event: New to forum and rving Posted: 19 Sep 2014 at 10:14am |
Excited about camping and meeting others with our new 179. Wandering if anyone could offer us as retires some advice about how to prepare rpod for road trips, supplies, etc. and what to be aware of to avoid damaging rpod when on the road and camping. Thanks to all. Look forward to reading your suggestions.

Welcome to the group!! A lot will depend on what your style of camping will be. The members here cover a wide variety. My wife and I are are pretty much the full service campground people mostly KOA's with hook ups wifi and CABLE. Others here are boon-dockers and off road campers with generators and are more self sufficient. There's many year of experience here and can talk you through all.

Hello..my wife and I have plans to camp out in open a lot, but will also take advantage of established campgrounds I am sure. We had heard from friends sometimes the electrical hookup at parks are wire wrong or have the amperage, ours is 30 I believe. We have been told problems with water hookups are common? We are naive and not sure what to make of it. As far as camping supplies, I think we are OK. It's the technical or watch out for we are concerned about. Should we purchase something to check electrical? We are techie toy challenged.
Thanks for responding.

There are several very informative post in here about the electrical issue. If you use the search section in the upper corner, you can run the topic and view the posts. They talk about equipment you can use to check before hooking up. We have been podding for the last 6 years and have not run into those issues.

I like the idea of having something take the hit instead of the POD. I'm looking to place a surge protector to do that job. Maybe one like this...it also provides feedback on the condition of the power. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/portable-surge-guard-protectors-30-amp/73993

Welcome. Follow the link in my signature, and you'll see the first item on the list is a discussion about checking for wiring issues. You only need $30 worth of equipment and it only takes a minute - literally - each time you hook up.
I've never encountered a problem with the water, other than some silt.

Click on where it says Pod Instruction Manual. From there you'll see a list of topics, click on the link to the right of each topic.

My bad, I'm not sure how to make the links live within the forum. Until I do figure it out you can copy and paste the link into your web browser address bar and hit enter and it will take you there. I'm also going to checkout the forum online manual project that tech has referred to.
