We just purchased a 2010 R-Pod 176T. Pick it up on Wed. Towing with a 2005 Dodge Dakota with V-8. Any input to the setting up and using of the Tent would be apreciated. It did not come with a mattress for the tent area, so need to know what works best. Will only be the wife and myself and our sheltie using it. Did buy a Champion 3500 generator for the back of pick up. I think it will be a great fix considering we are upgrading from a teardrop.

Made our first weekend at Hunting Island State Park. Loved the Pod and R dome. Setting the tent up in the 176T is a challenge. Could use some pointers. Hot weekend but the pod kept us cool and dry. Pulled like a dream.

Outbackdave- Just noticed your sig....you have a V-strom!
2004 DL1000 V-Strom here, which I don't get to ride near enough!
Love hitting the twisties up in WNC.

Got a postcard from Suzuki last week touting the new redesigned V-Stroms-   wow- they've gone up 50% since I bought mine 10 years agoShocked

Love the 2009 wee. Trying to figue out how to haul in back of Dakota and still pull the pod. Ever hear of anyone using hitch extension. Need to leave tailgate down..

Is the tongue jack the interferer with the tailgate?
3 bolts and it is off quick.  1 min off, 1 min on...quick easy cheap workaround if that is the issue.
I've permanently moved the jack on many trailers over the years because of tailgates...

A hitch extension can work too if you are careful about weights and what length and construction the extension is, as well as the truck hitch.
Heck I used to haul a 20 ft enclosed trailer behind my F350 with a large Jayco slide-in camper....that extension was about 4 ft!    But that truck has a very heavy rated 2.5" receiver and I made steel braces  welded to it attaching back to the truck to beef it up.

Definitely need to be careful with extensions, usually they cut your tongue weight rating in half.
