Hi All,
Here are a couple of mods that I have recently completed on our 179HRE. As I mentioned in another post, just before we picked up our pod someone at the dealership tried to close the door while it was being held open by the door keeper T-latch and damaged the door. I didn't want to continue using the T-latch since I could see myself doing the same thing! Budward on this forum mentioned using a magnetic latch and I thought that was a great idea, so this is what I came up with: ![]() I bought a few circular Neodymium magnets from Amazon. These have a hole in the center which is also countersunk to allow a flat-head machine screw to sit flush in it. I then cut the plastic door stopper (that prevents the door from hitting the fender/running light) to the proper angle and remounted it with the magnet on it. Here is the side view: ![]() You can see that I had yet to remove the T-latch at this point, and also see that I had to add a small metal plate to the door with industrial grade carpet tape. Here it is in use: ![]() Once we ever get the new door installed (the dealer says that it is on order, but it must be coming by wagon train or something! Although the plant where our Pod was manufactured is only ~50 miles away, all parts have to come from back east!), I'll mount a smaller metal plate that looks a little more professional. So far we have used the latch in some windy conditions and it has held through it all. It takes a fairly good tug to get it to unlatch. It took a bit of fiddling to get the angle just right and get a good magnetic lock-up, but it wasn't too bad. One other thing that had to be corrected before our next trip was the TV mount that doesn't allow any tilt downward! It was not watchable while lying in bed at all! Back to Amazon! I found this mount (on the right) for only $9! ![]() It has the tilt function built in, and looked like it could be jury-rigged to fit the existing TV arm: ![]() I did have to drill out the hole in the mount to use the same mounting bolt that came with the Pod, (or you could use a smaller bolt and a bushing to take up the slack) and I needed to bend the bracket to fit over the arm, but a bracket made for a larger TV might not need these mods. Anyway, I think it looks pretty good, like it should have been there from the beginning! ![]() ![]() Here it is ready for use: ![]() If anyone is interested I can provide links to the items I used. TriumphRider Edited to add: Does anyone know why I get the extra next to the pics? I tried removing the from the links to Photobucket, but then the pics don't work at all! ![]() |

This is kind of an experiment, but I'm on a mission to get organized! (yes dear)
So i gathered up most of my mods and put them in an album so I could review, see what needs to be done, see what needs to be undone and see what mods need to be modified. Before and after I purchased my 178, I found the pictures in this and other threads to be invaluable and inspirational. Perhaps this little picture show will help other newbies like me! Happy Modding! fred

I suppose it would if you have really long legs. With the shower pan at your feet, a standard height toilet would leave most people with swinging feet! The new toilet is just about factory height but with a residential size bowl/seat. She loves it....therefor I love it!
