You had asked your dealer? Or what would you have done differently?
We will be picking up a 179 in the next few days and I was wondering if there was anything you wished you had known from the start, or were there any mods you would have had the dealer complete before you picked up your prize? A dual battery set up, perhaps, or... Any other hints for a Pod newbie would be appreciated! ![]() Thanks, TriumphRider |

We upgraded to 2 6volt batteries, and LED interior and exterior lights.

We later had an outside shower added (we used the one we had on our popup a lot), and a set of "3rd" brake lights, like you see on cars and trucks. The factory brake lights are too small and too low to be seen by anyone other than the person right behind you. I should have had these 2 things added right away.

I wish I would have asked for a Tekonsha P3 brake controller instead of the Voyager. I upgraded myself. Big improvement for me. Got a barely used Voyager if anybody is interested.

Have them install an on off battery switch on the trailer near the batteries this way you won't have to disconnect them when you are not using your Pod. Congratulation on your purchase.

Both excellent suggestions.
I've considered eventually getting the Tekonsha Prodigy RF (the wireless one). Only catch for me is I tow the pod and a utility trailer so there would be more "fiddle factor" moving the control box from trailer to trailer.

All,
Thanks for the replies! I will ask the dealer to install a dual battery setup as I hope to be doing some dry camping if I can get the Boss to go along on a "roughing it" trip or two. ![]() I will be sure to add a battery disconnect myself as soon as I get the Pod home. The outside shower seems like a good idea too, as I feel that the less moisture one introduces into a trailer the better. That will definitely be one my list of future enhancements! Thanks again, and keep 'em coming! TriumphRider

Be sure to ask for a dual 6 volt battery setup instead of a dual 12 volt setup. There are several reasons why it is better.

Knowing what I know now, thanks to this group, I would have asked for a small discount on no battery and done it myself. I do have a spare 12v. car battery I could have brought for delivery.
I recently swapped out my newish 12 volt for two 230 amp hour GC8's: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/duracell-golf-car-battery-group-size-egc2/prod3590220.ip?navAction=push On a recent cold two night outing, we decided to not conserve at all - furnace a lot, lights, TV and computer w/inverter for movie and my CPAP for two nights. Oh, hot showers too. Just showing off. Power was not an issue and my voltmeter, never saw the batteries below 11.8v. (although I really didn't test at rest. We were always running something). One caveat - they don't fit a regular battery box. They are taller and heavier. I modified a couple of boxes to fit, thanks to shroomer for the suggestion: fred
