OK just got off the Phone with Chris at French Creek State Park. You are not able to make reservations but can show up at the Camp Ground and pay using the honor system. The weekend of Jan 17th through Jan 19th we can get into the Camp Sites. You will just need to pick a site once you get there.

Who all is thinking of coming? Right now I'm trying to push items around on my schedule.

I can say there will be at least 2 sites of CanvasCampers.  I will be there with possibly my 4yo son Friday night.  He has a birthday party Saturday afternoon so my wife will pick him up around lunch time.  The other site will probably be Phil and Cindy in a popup unless Cindy brings her own camper.  I know one of our people now has plans so there are 2 other possible CanvasCampers.

I just picked up some wood for the camping trip.  I'll take another picture once I cut it up tomorrow to see how much wood there really is.

They let you bring your own wood?  We have Emerald Ash Borer here and have to locally source camp fire wood.

PA lifted the ban on in-state transportation of wood in 2012.  The inter-state ban is still in effect.  Besides, this is pallet wood which is exempt since it has been processed.

Also I live 20 minutes from French Creek so I am local.  Smile

Too funny, I'm watching the scene in Cast Aways right now, where he's figuring out how to make fire.  We should also have the wood remnant dump at the top of the loop, and I usually bring split wood (sourced from within PA).

Hopefully I'm still in, but I've been fighting a low-level something for the last week that isn't going away.  We'll see later this week...

Was at French Creek back in September 2012; what I'll never forget was the sight we were in (don't remember the number) had about an 18" clearance from poison ivy on 3 sides of the pod SO  we moved to a different spot (had reserved this spot earlier w/o know about the infamous "toxicodendron radicans" for you latin majors).   Am sure this won't be an issue this time of the year but am curious for those who frequent this park in the summer, have they cut back, or are in the process of killing this stuff ?- it's not that hard to control.  I am not a fan of it - i can nearly get it by looking at the stuff.

I don't have an issue with poison ivy so I can't glance at a plant and say "that's poison ivy".  I know the C loop is very over camped (due to it being the only pet loop) so there usually isn't foliage right around the campsite.  The other loops have foliage up close.  Below is a link to our CanvasCampers pictures of the campsites in the C loop.  Don't know if this will help you remember the site you were in.

It looks like CanvasCampers are going to have 3 sites, 4 people.  How many R-Pods are going to be there?  Do you guys normally do a pot luck on Saturday night?
