My random 179 thoughts:
1. Wow, the added foot and new design stuff have really surpassed the comfort and utility of my old gal (175). 2. The longer models up to now have not made me lust for bigger is better. 3.The exterior design change makes this model look more MPGish rather than RPodish. 4. A genuine closet and lotsa added storage, Wow! 5. Except for financial and situational stuff, I would upgrade to this instantly, but at my age, the old gal is gonna suffice. 6. Personal preference only--at this length and probable added weight considerations, I would prefer a dual axle. Final note to self-- "DO NOT let wife become familiar with this model Pod or our personal finances will take a real hit!" |

Love, Love, Love all the storage, but now the outside line isn't as cute. Also like the Solar option - guess the manufacturer is listening to us. We haven't even gotten our R-Pod out camping yet as we bought it in late October, and still trying to figure out the storage options for our trip to Alaska next summer. Did get the new cover for our 178 just posted on Amazon at a great discount (80-199 fits up to 20 feet). Anyone know of an R-Pod rally in 2014 close to Michigan?

The concept of having the settee as the slide out makes sense. Virtually no critical electrical wiring or
plumbing has to move. The kitchen layout is very appealing- according to my wife anyhow. As far as enhansements that matter to me, (vs. our 177), there are few. The bath is unchanged, neither is the sleeping arrangement. We do not suffer from lack of storage as some may. Our outings are three days (usually) and we have pared our requirements to a manageable level. I agree that it is encouraging to see dedication to the brand, but we will continue to enjoy our 177 for many years to come.

just noticed in the pics the back end (kitchen area) has been squared off, not nearly as tear dropped/rounded. this looks like a great model and set-up. i may have a 177 for sale in the future!!!

i bet it is! i have never really expressed much dislike about my pod, but honestly if I was too and obviously i am , it would be the storage space. pam and i are pretty light and basic campers, but the storage of the 179 looks very nice. and i like the layout alot, and the new options. oh by the way kickstart, my wife did just see the new 179 pics, not good!!! hogone
