Our Awesome Trip

We both recently retired and have had this trip in the planning for about a year. Because we always travel in the West, we decided we had to go East. We wanted to go to Niagra Falls, so we started our trip by heading that direction. We spent several days there (wonderful), then moved on to Quechee, VT to enjoy the fall colors and hunt for covered bridges. After Vermont we headed to Maine, staying in Freeport for a few days. Our goal was to visit the LL Bean mother store. We also went up to Acadia National Park. We then headed down the coast, trying to avoid the crowds and traffic (after all, we're Wyomians). We would have loved to go to Boston and other historical areas, but with the dog we were very limited. We spent 5 days in Myrtle Beach, SC and 2 days in Charleston, SC because my husband wanted to visit the USS Yorktown. He had been stationed aboard that ship for 4 years in the late 60s and helped decommission her. After that we were going to go to Great Smokey Mountain National Park for a few days and then on to Mammoth Cave, but the government took care of those plans. We headed on up to St. Louis (where we were born), and have been here for the last few days visiting our old stomping grounds and relatives. We leave in 4 days, and our marvelous journey will come to an end. We left on September 8th and will be home on October 28th. We have been in 23 states so far and spent every night in Koko, mostly in KOAs. We never made advanced reservations because we wanted to be free to go wherever we chose and at our own pace. It has been everything we expected it to be and more. It has already snowed in Wyoming, so when we get home we'll be winterizing and will be dormant until spring. We're not ready for that! Traveling this way gets in your blood.

Out of curiosity I would assume you slid by the southern end of Lake Michigan and not the southern side of Lake Superior by us?  Sounds like a great trip.
