Topic: Roadside Assistance Posted: 11 Oct 2013 at 5:08pm |
I need some input here. Which of the two roadside assistance programs (AAA or Sam's Club) do you prefer?
Not comparing cost so much as I am service offered. Maybe carrying both is the best way to protect our travel. Thank you.

We always had AAA until we learned that even if you bought the RV rider for an extra $25.00 per year, they only tow the broken vehicle. In other words, if your TV breaks, they tow it, and leave your POD along the side the road, (life expectancy about 3 hours). If you arrange at the time of the phone call for another tow truck at your expense, they will send the second tow truck to move your POD to a safe place.
No experience with Good Sam Roadside assistance, but we did buy COACH-NET and we have used it once and was very pleased. We did not have the camper at the time, only our Jeep. They assured me when I bought the policy that they WOULD tow both the TV and the POD at the same time using two tow vehicles. Coach-Net is the same service that Forest River uses when the POD is under warranty. We have had it for two years now. The cost for Coach-Net is very close to the same fee charged by AAA.
So my only caution is be aware of the fact that if your TV breaks, your POD is at the mercy of anyone with a hitch passing by it while it sits lonely and forlorn on the side of the road.
Good Luck making the right choice for you.

AAA will tow your R-pod if your TV Breaks down. You must have the Plus RV or Premier RV Coverage. If you only have basic or Plus coverage it would cost extra to tow the R-Pod.

Thanks, Peter. I have been with AAA for about 50 years and did not know that.
