Please allow us to introduce ourselves. We recently bought a barely used 2010 R-151, and have already taken it out for two weekend trips. We've named our Pod "Boots" because we had to upgrade to a heftier vehicle for towing than my 2006 Jeep Wrangler, and ended up with a 2007 black Ford Explorer - that we named "Dora". And since Dora's best little buddy is "Boots", there you have it!
We haven't made any major modifications yet, except to peel off the outside ribbon decals. However, my husband is a technical theatre teacher and fine-scale modeler, so being the artistic type, he just wasn't satisfied with the way Boots looked. We plan to take it old school, and "vintage" Boots up a bit, which is fine for me; probably with some black to match Dora.
We decided to get a travel trailer since we're not as young as we once were, and crawling in and out of a tent, and getting up from sleeping on an inflatable mattress, is not as easy as it once was. Plus, we were just tired of dealing with tents in inclement weather, and the possibility of the local wildlife paying us a nocturnal visit (although in my 25+ years of camping in Florida I've never had that problem thank God!). I also was intrigued with the whole vintage trailer idea, and we figured this route would be quicker and easier for our introduction to a travel trailer than finding an old wreck of a trailer and trying to restore it.
Looking forward to reading your posts!
