Topic: Picking up our 182G SOON! eeeeek! Posted: 27 Jun 2013 at 10:42am |
Discovered the RPod while looking for a lightweight to tow behind my Buick Enclave. (5,000 lbs towing)
Cannot believe when we walked into it how well it is laid out and how roomy it feels. Other TT's that were 8' wide and square and boxy didn't have near as much appeal as the pod. We did look at the 178 but ended up purchasing the 182G. I'm a little nervous as we have not actually been inside a 182G, but feel we needed the three separate sleeping areas.
Travel will mostly be with my Daddy (79) and my daughter (14) and once in a while my husband. U-dinette was a must as Papa, daughter and I love to play games. Sometimes we play them all day long! Its great family time together! We have a diesel pusher now, but going to see how podding goes and might get rid of it. I am far to intimidated to drive a DP and makes me nervous just sitting while hubby drives it. Wanted something to call my own that I can handle well. Hoping this RPod is it!
I'm a little worried about the sway and which hitch to get. I see the E2 is more than enough but am intrigued by the Equalizer having "more" sway control - or more "points" to reduce sway chances. Any reason to not get the Equalizer besides cost?
Glad to be here!

Hi kaleidosopegirl,
If you are just worried about sway then a simple sway bar is all you need. Having said that I have an E2 hitch which I love because not only does it control sway but also the bouncing you get when you hit a bump. It makes the ride way smoother. As to the Difference between the E2 and the Equalizer I have never used the Equalizer but I would have purchased one if they had been cheeper. It only makes sense that 4 friction points would be better that 2. I find the E2 works well for me though.

Welcome. I've dealt with severe sway when we had our popup, going to extremes shifting weight over the tongue, tire pressure, etc. I towed for a while without anything on the pod and feel the E2 provides more than enough sway control for the pod.

That can be fixed.. either make a new account with the proper spelling.. or contact an admin and ask them to change it..

No problem. Maybe I'll start adding random "c"s to people's names to see if they notice.
