Hello all,
Are there any pod people in British Columbia?? We are on Vancouver Island and are looking for new places to camp. It's very expencive to take the ferry to the main land. We have done it before to go to the U.S. and to Saskatoon but would like to stay on the Island. We are thinking of going to Oregon to a pod round up at Sea side?? Think I got that right, lol. Any help would be great!! Thanks.

Hello on Vancouver Island We live in Coquitlam, and have had our R-Pod 171 since Aug 2011. We thought about camping at Miracle Beach but the ferry cost is so prohibitive, so we will explore the rest of BC, and maybe tent on the island. We traveled to Oregon in it last September, including SeaSide. We went as far as Coos Bay, staying in mostly State parks on reservations. 3 nights in KOA's for our wifi "fixes"
Cheers and enjoy the trailer Ray Parker Coquitlam BC |

I looked up Seaside on Trip Advisor,it got quite a few bad reviews. Most of them were about a woman who was rude and nasty. The reviews were from 2012 and back so she might not be employed there anymore.

We, of course were there last year and all was fine. Hope that both of you will attend this year. Although campgrounds can receive a bad review, by possibly someone that is difficult to please, we found the location perfect. If by chance you meet a campground host who may not always have a smile, remember that they have to cater to quite a number of different personalities, and have a job that sometimes can be quite difficult. In any event, you only have to chat with them when you arrive. The rest of the company can be delightful. Safe Travels.

We live in North Vancouver and will be taking our new 177 over to Vancouver Island in the summer (if not sooner). The ferry is expensive, so we will probably park it at our daughter's home in Courtenay if we need to go back to the mainland. Vancouver Island is our favourite destination for hiking, cycling, and kayaking, so we plan to spend a fair bit of time there again this summer. This is our first trailer and we look forward to the comforts of a home base but still plan to tent while on adventures. We have mainly done wilderness camping, forestry sites and provincial parks on the island and can tell you about those for dry camping.

We have tented and r poded at Lizard Lake on the way to Port Renfrew. I think I mis spelled that, lol. It's a dry camp ground, very nice, small but very close to the lake where you can swim. A quick day trip to the ocean and port Renfrew.

If you can get a reservation for the Seaside roundup in Oregon, it would be great to meet you hear more about BC. We have been through BC once on a great trip (before R-pod) on our way to Alaska to see our son who was working on a floating fishing lodge in Clover Bay near Ketchikan, Alaska.

Hi! Vancouver Island native here. You should check out the Discovery BC site for a list of campgrounds on the island (if you are okay with dry camping). https://secure.camis.com/Discovercamping/
I'm on the south side of the island and haven't had a chance to wander too far north yet. I know a lot of people try to get to Parksville and up around Campbell River. I'll being doing a long weekend trip in August to French Beach. Safe travels!
