It has been a very long time since I've visited "the other site". But someone pointed me to a thread which was very disturbing - honestly, it was just more of the same negativity and accusations that we've now endured for years coming from the moderators and other specific members "over there".
This time though, I responded. The latest accusation was well beyond acceptable behavior, especially coming from one of their moderators (who at first said they were going to start using our forum because it is spam-free, lol). I felt it was prudent for me to repost my reply here to ensure the original post doesn't either dissapear or become "judiciously pruned" (as so many posts there have). ![Wink Wink](http://www.rpod-owners.com/smileys/smiley2.gif)
My reply. I even tried to be helpful...

Ratdog, as a moderator you have the ability to delete the spam posts and ban the spammer's accounts, so you could have taken care of that yourself instead of waiting for Couch's staff.
I find it interesting that you say in one post that if the spam continues you will start using the owner's forum, then in another post make a claim that someone on the owner's forum is trying to kill this one. Its hard to reconcile the two positions. As a mod you should be the last person making either statement. Take pride in your moderator position and stick around to fix the problem instead of saying you are going to jump ship, and also be professional in your moderator position and don't make nasty accusations. And no, nobody from the owner's forum is over here trying to sabotage this forum.
As others have posted (and they know this because I openly posted about it on the owner's forum - we are very open "over there"), the spammers have figured out how to get around the Captcha challenge during the account creation process, so they've been signing up for tons of accounts. The reason you don't see any spam on the owner's forum is because every day I've been personally verifying each new account before approving it which prevents 99% of the spam before it even starts. Then when spam does appear the admins jump on it right away to kill it. The spam that is, on our site. Not this one.

I moderate on another board and know how much work this can be. I appreciate the work you guys do to keep this site running. Sounds like the mod on the other forum doesn't want to do the work and still have the result.

Rat Dog was only made a moderator after he complained about the spam and he was not even asked they just just went ahead and did it. The problem over there is there were no active Moderators. I considered volunteering just to get the board cleaned up but Couches' Admin cleaned it up before I volunteered. I agree that the comment about the owners board being the culprit was uncalled for though.

Hey TNT, Don't wanna get mixed up in anything that has no real solution, but I do want to say that all that you do for this site is really appreciated. If you dump your Pod and go big, I and probably most everyone hopes you keep on doing what you've been doing here.

Thanks, all. Definitely a joint effort with the other admins. The only thing I've been handling on my own is verifying the accounts. I used to just automatically approve everyone but once the spammers started finding us about a year ago that changed.
Since I'm not a regular over there I didn't know that member wasn't a mod until recently, I stand corrected on that.

I am much more comfortable with the higher-level of control that ya'll put into this forum than most of the others I have seen. I don't contribute to the "other" site nor do I plan to, and actually only participate in one other online forum for running which drove me away for almost a year due to the spam, personal anger & vitriol, abuse and lack of control that was occurring. After half the people there quit the forum the owners of it (a business) finally decided to do something about it. It takes a lot of time, work & energy to have this forum running the way it is, and I greatly appreciate all that you do in keeping it a civil & productive place to share our Podding experiences, knowledge and tips. If there is anything that I can personally do to help out please don't hesitate to let me know.
