MTMatt, I can't speak to the taco, but pulled our 176 about 4,000 miles with a 6 cyl 2003 Tundra, I just trader her in with 230,000 miles for the big engin Tundra Crew Cab, milage isn't as good but the power is unbelievable. I have to say if it is true they are going to put the small 8 in the Tacome it would be worth waiting for. Good luck and happy nights of camping.

Honestly     ...I hope Toyota puts the higher horsepower/improved gas mileage 4L 6 Cylinder in the Tacoma - - mailnly because I like manual transmission and if they go to an 8 cylinder they will likely NOT offer it with stick !!

I just got a Rpod 177 and towed it for the first time with a Tacoma 2011. It worked great. With the trailer brakes, it actually stopped better than the hard-sided pop up we used to have.
