Taking down the mini blinds?

Can anyone tell me HOW to take down the mini-blinds?   
I am putting up curtains at each end of the bed, and with the valance board in the way, I just can figure out how the blinds are attached to the wall.  Is it possible to take the blinds out of the bracket they are in, and just leave the bracket?  (If so, how?)
