Even in NJ with our monster electric rate, i don't notice the cost of keeping it plugged in with just the charger and the vent fan on the electric bill. It seems to be within the normal monthly variation. Now we did keep a heater on during the middle of January - that cost about $15 to keep it warm while prepped for our mid winter Pod-together.

We are here in Oregon and our winters are milder than yours. I was wondering, since our Rpod is in our driveway it is also plugged in all the time. Would a small ceramic heater kept at maybe 50 degrees keep all shipshape during the winter? Only gets below freezing for about 4-5 days throughout the winter.

I wouldn't worry about a heater unless the temperatures drop below freezing for more than a few hours.

A smallish enclosed space.. around here it will be moldy and mildewey.. (SP?) in about 4-5 days during some parts of the year with no ventalation. Also helps air out any cooking smells if you do cook in there... MMmmMMmm smells like... BACONPOD!! |

Last trip I told the DW we should just remove the air freshener spray that we use. The Pod always smells like Bacon anyways! We come in at night after being outside all day and the Pod is nice and cool and smells like bacon!

This interesting thread caused me to think about winter storage here, where winter temperatures can reach -15 degrees. We also average 40" of snow per year.
Does anyone have suggestions for storage in harder winter conditions? |

Barn. Or a cover. Many northern podders on here, should hear from them shortly.. most have dug out by now..
If properly winterized, I don't *think* any of the pieces couldn't handle those temps. If you have 120vavailable, you could leave a small space heater on, set low. We do that here.. just in case I/we need/want to either hide out or driveway camp.. or so if we use the camper as a guest room, it is already near to comfortable. |
