our HRE 177 is just like the one in the photo - has the black trim and they call the color - cool vanilla -- we just took our first trip this last weekend and loved it

We are putting ours to sleep this weekend, too. We've spent about 70 days, too, in ¡Podtástic! this summer and have enjoyed every minute of it. April will be here before we know it, and we can take her back out on the road.

Welcome Footsloggers. I know you are going to enjoy this forum. We spent over 70 nights in our pod this summer and this weekend we are putting her to sleep for the winter. Sigh. But wait! a friend just reminded me it is only 5 months until spring... My first reaction to the black trim was 'Hey that is so cool!" B

I too am having trouble deciding if I like the black trim or not...also looks like the body is cream colored instead of white?
It is cream-tannish colored. I saw them at the Hershey RV Show and really thought they looked sharp!

[QUOTE=techntrek] Congrats on the new camper. I've backpacked a lot over the years, I've done all of the AT in MD and good chunks of it in southern PA. Progressed from a 43 pound pack to almost an ultralighter in more recent years.
Now I mostly pod-camp with the family, gotta get these trips in while the kids still want to go.
================
Thanks Tecntrek. My wife and I are/were pretty hardcore distance backpackers ...but the heart attack in 2008 brought that all to a screeching halt. I was an angry cuss for a while but our love of the outdoors helped us consider the rv thing. We had another teardrop for 3 seasons and totally loved it. But this past summer we travelled east from Wyoming and spent 3 months on the road during all that heat and humidity. 2 adults and a full grown black lab pushed us and that little camper beyond reasonable limits. When we got back home the first thing I did was clean up the teardrop and put it up for sale. We were fortunate and sold it in a couple weeks. During our travels this past summer we saw several R-Pods and even visited Couches place near Cincinnati. Long story short ...we found ourselves "camperless" and contacted a Forest River dealer about 2 hours south of us. When we first talked on the phone they had three 177's on the lot. By the time we actually visited the dealer they only had one left. It just seemed like it was meant to be.
So ....now we are just anxious and looking forward to picking it up a week from tomorrow on the 29th. We're not quite as gitty as we were when we bought our first camper so we aren't planning any trips right away. Besides, the weather here in Wyoming is starting to sink and winter camping ain't our "bag". I am planning on getting it parked in our little rv pen next to the garage, plug it in and get a little heater running and then just spending days/weeks learning everything I can about the Pod design and technology. I am a technical type and a pretty handy designer so in all likelihood I will be making some mods/improvements and making it OUR pod.
On a final note ...our dog's name is "Roxy" - - so we may just end up calling it our "Roxy-Pod". Then again, we tend to use our camper as a get-away vehicle so we may just refer to it as our "E" (escape) Pod.

Not sure I like the black - the last thing I want to be absorbing heat is the A/C in the middle of the summer! I also don't want the rest of the pod absorbing heat. I like the look, just not the functionality.

I kinda like the black trim myself - - very unique. But the 2012 we bought today is white with whitemtrim. Black trim wasn't an option.

I'm gonna rip off all my trip and spray paint it purple now. I think the black is pretty neat looking, looks most strange around the storage compartments and on the screen door it looks like one giant black panel now. Huge congrats on your final decision to get the Pod, they are an enjoyable unit to own!
