Topic: Battery draining with cut off switch Posted: 22 Aug 2011 at 8:43pm |
I have a call into Interstate and am awaiting one of their customer service specialist to get back with me, had hoped that would all be in the same day. I also mentioned that this forum was how I discovered another customer with the same issue. We'll see what happens...

As a follow up... I never received a call back from Interstate so contacted them again today myself. I was connected with the local Interstate Battery Store which is supposed to be company owned and not a dealer. I was told that they will re-evaluate the battery and offer me an upgrade for $15.00 since the battery I have isn't carried in the area. Hope this turns out to be worth the hassle and run-around.

Just make sure they give you a deep cycle and not starting battery.

Do you by chance have an electric jack hooked up? On my last trailer that had on it pulled a little bit off my battery even when it shut off.

This is a battery setting on my work bench, not connected to anything. I had taken it to an authorized Interstate Warranty Dealer in my area. He in turn put it on a charge system and analyzed it with a piece of equipment provided by Interstate. I have done nothing but let it sit a couple of weeks at this point.

Sorry to hear about your battery troubles, but I thought you would like to know I really like your animated icon.

I think calling Interstate's Customer Service was the key to getting this battery issue resolved as they in turn talked to the company store here locally. I showed up today at the Interstate Battery Store in Dayton with battery in hand as well as sales invoice for purchase of R-Pod. Without any hesitation the manager took my battery and explained he didn't have the identical one in stock but had the next larger battery. He charged me $15.00 for the difference in the upgrade and I was on my way. I am completely satisfied at this point. Thanks for all the suggestions from those who posted.

Well update to my original issue. After some testing I'm again not sure what to think. I had a full charge on the battery again, and with the key in the cut off switch left it unplugged for the past 3 days. Checking the battery level each night I've had no discharge at all from the batter while it's in the on position. This morning I removed the key, in essence turning the battery off. A little over 12 hours later tonight and the battery is completely and fully discharged again. Unless anyone has another suggestion now, I will be removing the switch entirely tomorrow.

I suppose it could be a defective switch that is sending the juice to ground. Maybe??

Next up, remove it entirely, charge it fully and then measure it over a few days (again). That will narrow it down to the battery or something on the 'pod, including possibly the switch.
