Small roll-out awnings

   I have had several discussions about this since owning my Pod.  I think the idea could be made to work.  Thanks for your pictures and Tech's link.  It is what I am calling a "cassette awning".

	I have wondered about a bracket, say from 1/4 aluminum sheet stock, a 6 inch wide piece would be enough I think, that could then be fastened/tightened into the existing dome track Then something like this attached to it.. They are nice. I didn't get a picture of it up, but this really expensive van/camper had one on it, it worked just like the one on the jeep in the picture..

	The more I look at this the more I think it would be a pain to mount this to a 'pod. The 6 foot model would work well within the flatter part of the roof, but the top of the door is so high I don't think there is room on the side. If there is it might still stick out past the edge a little on each end. You would also need a ladder in camp to get up there. Somebody would have to contact them if they were interested, to find out the height of the case.

	I posted a link to this site in the Off-topic forum, because they have some interesting off-road trailers including a teardrop. Then I noticed their awnings, which look like they are perfect for the 'pod. It appears they collapse into a small case or pouch, and are roll-out for quick deployment. The pouch would need to be permanently mounted below the existing awning c-channel but that might be appealing to some. A bit expensive though... http://www.adventuretrailers.com/awning.html Edit, I just noticed it says "aluminum clamshell case". The legs would need to be extended if you want them on the ground, but if they were attached to the side of the 'pod they might be ok as-is.
