Got back yesterday from a great 3 night stay, with family, at
Kerrville Schreiner Park in Kerrville, Texas. While the area (and most
of Texas) is in a severe drought condition, it was a great stay and
wildlife was abundant. The days were very hot, but the nights were
surprisingly cool. We would love to go back when things green up some,
but that could be awhile.

Wow! Great wildlife photos and a beautiful place to camp. I love the pic of the cardinal.

Do you have much trouble aiming your dish? I held on to my standard-def dish (single LNB) when I upgraded to high-def a few years ago with the intention of mounting it on a base and using it on longer camping trips, but I've never done it. |

Thanks. There were 2 male cardinals and one female we saw daily, that were attracted to a leaky water hose on another trailer. However, I was surprised by the lack of other birds. |

I've always loved cardinals. They are the North Carolina state bird and I am from NC originally. They always show up so bright in a photo like yours.

Hodge-Podge, they must be pretty common in the park also. There is a picture of one on the park map they hand out.

The new tv towed great. It is nice having the extra hp also. We got 11.5 mpg going up, but only averaged 8 mpg coming back. I blame that mostly on the E85 flex fuel we tried out coming back. I did some research and found out that while e85 is cheaper, it gets about 25% less mpg. |

Yes, ethanol has less energy compared to gas. Since most gas is cut with 10% ethanol now-a-days (it replaced MTBE which is horrible for ground water contamination), its a good argument for going diesel for tow vehicles. Thanks for the info on the helper kit. |
