Once again we went to Adolph Thomae county park this past weekend.
Since it's only a short distance we left after work on Fri. The new TV
and sway control worked great. I'm very please with the way the
Frontier pulls. We were on the same site as last time. I was somewhat
surprised that most of the sites were full. We had set up the R-Dome
even though it was a bit windy. Sat while watching the gulls and other
birds over the Arroyo Colorado we saw 2 sets of dolphins. This was the
first time we have ever seen them in the Arroyo. In the early afternoon
the wind really picked up. We had gust of 35-40 mph. One of the gusts
was strong enough to put a slight bend in 1 of the R-Dome extension
poles, I was able to straighten it enough to slide it closed. Needless
to say we decided to take the R-Dome down. It's probably a good thing
we did as there were gust of over 45 mph on Sunday. Since it was so
windy and the dust/sand/gravel was blowing across the site, we decided
to make the short drive to the National Wildlife Refuge at Laguna
Atacossa. We had not been there in 4-6 weeks, so it was good to visit
there again. The photos below are from there. Sunday the wind
continued to blow hard making it somewhat uncomfortable to sit out, so
we pack up in the early afternoon and drove home. I was glad I had
installed the sway control as part of the way we had a cross-wind and
the Pod behaved very well. Even though we cut it short a little it's
always good to get out in the Pod.

Roadrunner in a tree. Unusual as they are normally a ground bird

Brown Thrasher

The Green Jay is one of the prettiest birds we have in the area

A little closer shot

A young Chachalaca

Cardinal, we don't get a lot of these down here.
