Topic: Peeling Decals Posted: 04 Apr 2011 at 8:40pm |
on mine it is at the curves where small pieces cracked. Once that happened it loosened the decal. I took ours out this weekend and did 70 mph down the turnpike for 4 hours and boy did I loose a lot of decal on the front. My plan is to remove as much as I can with out it looking stupid (or it all goes if it looks stupid) and not replace it with the stock decals. I'm searching for something on the front that would have foxes on it. We did add to the back window this week. I will post in a new thread as soon as I pull off the camera.

To tell the truth, the peeling is more from the vinyl splitting. I think that because the vinyl is stretched tight on a curve, its more prone to splitting, creating 3/8" cracks. The splits pop up like little tabs or flags. Its then that the ice and snow helps things along.

I doubt it, I think your cover is what saved them by keeping ice and snow from scraping them off.

After hearing so much about peeling decals I was almost afraid to remove the winter cover from my Pod. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, there is no sign of peeling. My trailer was built in April of 2010 so maybe by then Forest River had solved the problem??????????

Well, I pulled my 'pod around front this morning to start prepping it for our big trip in 2 1/2 weeks. When I got home tonight I did a walk-around. Sure enough, the decals on the front and back are peeling. I guess I'll have them removed and leave them off this time. I have a theory. A bumper sticker that was stuck to the rear window of my car was shredded, after it sat for several weeks with snow on the roof. It partially melted and re-froze, then slid down the window.

I have all kinds of ideas for a wrap, but my wife is saying no. I have a friend who painted a small portion of the front to see how it will hold up this winter. I've done some Google searching one decals and rvs and see that this is not the only brand it happens too. I was upset at first but then it was like oh well. I will post pictures of anything that I end up doing with it.

Sorry to hear about your decals, but the possiblities with a wrap just boggle the mind. If you decide to do a wrap be sure and take photos, and I for one would love to know what it costs if you didn't mind.

What!?! You gotta be kidding me! I have until next August on my warranty (I paid for the extension), so I guess I can go for try #3 if it happens to mine... but I wonder if leaving it blank and looking into a wrap would be better. Or leave it blank.
I would worry that paint wouldn't adhere properly to the fiberglass.
